Sander de Klerk

6 years ago former product and interior designer Sander de Klerk started his career as a full-time artist in South Africa. The many galleries in Johannesburg and Cape Town provided the perfect habitat for a flying start. 

​

3 and a half years ago, Sander moved to Belgium where he started working on paper collages, In search of different materials he also explored the use of silk paper. This turned out to be an unlimited source of creative potential and is now the main actor in his work. 

​

Silk paper lends itself perfectly to building up a complex layering. The different layers of this semi-transparent material interact with each other to form tactile images full of details and countless shades of colour.
